Glitch – Pages do not print properly in Internet Explorer

Even though I am a Firefox person, I test all my pages in Explorer since 60% of the World still uses it. I missed this one, though, until a user emailed me about it.

In Firefox, printing a page prints the information on the page (pretty exciting!).  In Internet Explorer (I use IE8) some pages print properly, some leave out sections, and one (as far as I have tested) crashes IE when the print icon is pressed.  Everything appears normal on the screen.

Here are the details:

  • Barley prints fine.
  • Asparagus cuts off after the title and leaves the remainder of the printed page blank.  It picks up again on the second page with the pictures (no section title of Insect Pictures, though)
  • Strawberries cuts off after the title and leaves the remainder of the printed page blank.  It picks up again on the second page with the section title of Video Clips.  It shows the video clip image but moves the caption down and to the right.
  • Broccoli cuts off after the title and leaves the remainder of the printed page blank.  It picks up again on the second page with the Video Clips title. But leaves out the text, “There are no pictures currently available.
  • Bok Choy crashes IE when the print button is pressed.

I tried it in IE8 on XP, Vista, and Windows 7.  All had the same issues.

As far as I figure, if a div runs over to the second page, the whole div is skipped and the next page starts with the next div.

Any ideas?
